Georgia OT Isaiah Wilson: Zamir White ‘hits the hole …. kicking and trucking’

ATHENS Isaiah Wilson's eyes lit up as he was talking about Zamir White, a Georgia redshirt freshman who has overcome two torn ACLs and burst back on the scene on Saturday.

"That man hits the hole, he'll hit the hole mighty hard, and you see him start running through there, and I feel bad for the safety that has to fill it," Wilson said.

"I feel bad for the safety that has to tackle No. 3."

No doubt, White knocked aside linebacker Channing Tindall with relative ease in a one-on-one goal line drill on Saturday.

In another highlight released by UGA, White dragged cornerback Ameer Speed for extra yardage on a run.

It was exactly what many expected from White when the Bulldogs signed him as the No. 1-ranked tailback in the 2018 Class out of Laurinburg, N.C.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart said White was cleared for fall drills, but few know how much of a load White will carry and how soon.

One thing is for certain, White has already made an impression on his teammates as well as coaches.

"I would't say I'm surprised, but it's extremely impressive," Wilson explained. "When Zamir came here I knew he had a great work ethic, I could tell by the way some of the lifting helped his arms, and I could see the grind he was in the first time he went through this injury.

"So it's not really surprising to us in the building, but it's extremely impressive to see somebody bounce back from two ACLs and still keep on kicking and trucking and running as fast as he does."

White tore the ACL in his right knee in high school and had been cleared for contact when he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee while working on a punt coverage drill in the second scrimmage last fall.

White attacked his rehabilitation, sharing his comeback story with fans by posting videos of some of his workouts.

The knee has held up through contact drills this fall, and now it's his running that's impressing his teammates.

Wilson said the Wow' moment came in a practice when White burst through a hole.

"He hit the hole, and it didn't look like anyone wanted any part of him," Wilson said. "He just burst through the hole and out of nowhere, he was about 20 yards down the field."

Smart, a former All-SEC safety, understands what Wilson means when he says he pities the defender who comes up on White in run support.

"It's not easy to tackle him," Smart said, "because he is a full grown man."
